Kütahya at ETAR Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum XVIII International Fair of Traditional Crafts
The team of Kütahya Municipality’s Directorate of Etude Project participated in the XVIII International Fair of Traditional Crafts held in Gabrovo, Bulgaria between August 31-September 4, 2023.
At the fair, which took place at the ETAR Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, a promotional stand was set up on this year’s theme and a competition on the art of silver embroidery was held. Within the scope of the event, Mr. Mehmet Zenci, Etude Project Manager and UNESCO Focal Point, and the Project team presented Kütahya to Gabrovo and Ms. Tanya Hristova, Mayor of Gabrovo, and held a meeting bout future cooperation and sister city relations. This meeting also paved the way for the preparation of a Town Twinning Project between the two cities.
The team also organized a meeting with ETAR Museum Director Ms. Svetla Dimitrova and made an informative presentation about the cultural treasures, crafts, and arts of Kütahya. The achievements of our province in European Union projects were praised by the delegation attending the meeting. The traditional clothes of Kütahya, the UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Arts, also attracted great attention.
Silversmith Ms. Ümmühan Oruç contributed to the visibility and promotion of our city at the silver stand within the scope of the event. Mr. Sakin Yaman, a silversmith from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, who participated in the silver embroidery art competition, was awarded the 3rd prize in the competition. Sakin Yaman’s specially designed work for this fair, the necklace named “Art Talisman” and the tiled jewelry set designed by Ümmühan Oruç will be permanently exhibited in the ETAR Museum of Gabrovo city.
