Driving Sukhothai UCCN Action Plan for Crafts and Folk Art

Sukhothai UCCN 4-years Action Plan (2024-2027) for Crafts and Folk Art aims to develop the city based on the UNESCO Creative Cities Network’s mission for achieving its sustainable development goals.

It is the 2nd UCCN Action Plan of Sukhothai which has been revised strategies in line with MONDIACULT 2022 as its’ call for actions from UCCN members as encouraged by UNESCO.

Moreover, this action plan reviews and monitors the city’s implementation over the last four years and it also provides initiatives for the next 4 years which have just been submitted along with Sukhothai’ Monitoring Report 2023. This current UCCN Action Plan of Sukhothai consist of 6 Strategies which are:

• Strategy 1: Creative Economic Activities Development Strategy 2: Social Equity Development
• Strategy 3: UCCN Missions, Activities and Networking
• Strategy 4: Capacity Building Development for Crafts and Creativity
• Strategy 5: Creative City Infrastructure Development
• Strategy 6: Creative City Development for Managing Global Challenges

There are 36 projects under the above 6 strategies which are 26 projects at local level (5 initiative, 11 continuing, and 10 integrated projects) and 10 international projects (5 initiatives, 4 continuing, and 1 integrated projects).

All projects aim to preserve and promote cultural assets by promoting creativity for achieving 8 Sustainable Development Goals which are:

SDG1: No Poverty;

SDG3: Good Health and Well-being;

SDG 4: Quality Education;

SDG8: Decent Work and Economic Growth;

SDG9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure;

SDG10: Reduce Inequities;

SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities;

SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals.
