Design Pal Collaboration

This is a design collaboration between Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design (Naresuan University) and the IED University of Rome in Italy. Design Pal is a joint project encouraging design students from both Universities to work together as a pair (15 Italian and 15 Thai Design Students) to apply Sukhothai wisdom into a collection of jewelry design by mixing with local materials under the support from Thai Puan Creative Hub, Suntre Pha Thai, Monthana Ceramic and Montri Silver Enterprises. Four design collections (which are top 3 Best Projects of Silver and Ceramic and Best Project of Silver and Fabric, and the best Collaborative Project) were awarded by the Embassy of Italian in Bangkok.

The Design Pal project was also selected to display at a temporary exhibition in TCDC Head Quarter in Bangkok, from July 4th to August 6th, 2023, enhanced its visibility within the design community. Positioned on TCDC HQ’s top floor, the showcase featured all students’ projects explaining their work and concepts alongside prototypes from the top four selections across Best Project, Best Fabric Application, Best Ceramic Design, and Best Collaboration. This exhibition offered a platform for meaningful engagement and discourse on contemporary design trends among local and international creative designers. This Design Pal project itself had been presented showing the collaborative effort between Naresuan University led by the Faculty of Architecture, Art and Design in Thailand and IED University in Rome, representing a convergence of diverse perspectives and innovative ideas which also support Sukhothai UCCN mission in broader learning landscape.
