Project Room mudaC
The Municipality of Carrara manages the mudaC|museo delle arti Carrara, a venue dedicated to contemporary arts belonging to the museum complex which also includes the CARMI, Carrara and Michelangelo Museum in Villa Fabbricotti (dedicated to the Master’s connection with the city) and the Marble Museum (which testifies to the history of the excavation and processing of marble from Roman times to today).
Following the recognition of the title of museum of regional importance attributed in 2019 by the Tuscany Region to the CAP (Centre of Plastic Arts) in via Canal del Rio, this Administration has started, with the scientific management of the museum headquarters, activities to redevelop and enhance the collections, updating the name of the museum to mudaC (Carrara arts museum), preparing a new graphic image and starting a redesign of the museum spaces with a new visit route and didactic devices; The itinerary is divided into two macro-areas: the Ground Floor for exhibitions, initiatives and events of a temporary nature and the First Floor for the exhibition of the permanent collections (Historical Biennials, Biennial 2010, Drawing Marble, Artist Residencies) and a Project Room (first floor, room B) designed to host contemporary artists with the aim of building a dialogue with the reference community, promoting the excellence of artists who work with marble.
This notice therefore aims to select talented artists who propose their works within the mudaC Project Room. Projects by individual artists and also projects presented by artists gathered in informal groups will be taken into consideration and multiple applications may be submitted for different projects.
The public notice therefore concerns the proposal for temporary exhibition projects to be set up in the Project Room on the first floor of mudaC (plan of which is attached), which will have to be designed on the basis of the dimensions of the room and its architectural characteristics, with possibility of use for video documentaries of the exhibition via the 65-inch monitor permanently installed on the north wall of the room.
The exhibitions must respect the opening hours of the museum to the public.
