LAB/HUB: Carrara Unesco Creative City from laboratory of ideas to creative hub.
Carrara has been since 2017 a Unesco Creative City for the Craft and Folk cluster and since 2021 a signatory of the Carrara Charter and Declaration as a commitment to promote, support and implement Creativity and make it an identity figure. Unesco asks individual creative cities to organize annual Forums as opportunities to compare best practices and projects with the territory and with the UCCN network itself.
The first stage of this path has been set for November 24 at the mudaC, museum of contemporary art in Carrara. In continuity with the Creativity Forum that was held in 2021 and with the intention of following up on the principles and commitments made in the Carrara Charter on Art and Craftsmanship and the Declaration on the Role of the Artist and Craftsman, the study day on November 24 will be the first stage in the run-up to the International Forum to be held in March 2024.
The meeting, which will be attended by all the subjects who have signed the two documents listed above and which will also be aimed at the expansion of this working group, will be divided into two moments:
- the morning will be devoted to the presentation of existing and future projects whose purpose is to stimulate reflections and provide tools to develop a path that will lead Carrara to become a real synergistic and functional Creative Hub;
- in the afternoon, 4 thematic working tables will be created;
- in the cultural/creative, tourism, educational and promotional spheres whose purpose is to investigate more thoroughly the strengths and weaknesses of this city and then draft programmatic documents aimed at imagining viable, sustainable, and scalable future scenarios in the area.
