Convivere

Event name*

Con-Vivere

Date

Second week of September

Location

Historical Center of Carrara

Con-vivere, the festival on interculturalism, saw the light in 2006, becoming an annual event that enlivens the heart of Carrara’s historical center every second weekend in September. Organized by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara through its Instrumental Company, Fondazione Progetti S.r.l., the festival enjoys the Patronage of the Region of Tuscany and the Province of Massa Carrara, actively collaborating with the Municipality of Carrara, the Chamber of Commerce, the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Marble Foundation.

Professor Remo Bodei has led the scientific direction of the festival for an impressive 14 years, from 2006 to 2019, helping to shape its identity and bestowing on it awards such as the Medal of the President of the Republic. Each edition of Con-vivere focuses on a specific theme, addressing current challenges related to the coexistence of cultural, religious, and political identities.

The very symbol of the hyphen separating “with” from “living” symbolizes the complexity of building harmonious communities.

The festival intends to be a spotlight on crucial issues, encouraging reflection on our role in the world, the reconciliation of past and present, and the design of an inclusive future. Con-vivere aspires to transform cities like Carrara into experimental laboratories for new forms of coexistence in a globalized world, where different mentalities, religions, customs, and laws converge.

It is an invitation to explore the richness of the multiple cultures that coexist in our lives and communities, seeking the way to a future based on mutual understanding and building bridges between diversities.
