Festival of the Crosses

• Dates: from April 30th to May 3rd

It is the first major Northern Festival and pilgrimage, a blending of animation, light, colour and joy. This festival is promoted by the Municipality usually begins in the national holiday of April 25 and ends in May 3rd.

This is one of the most important events of the city and of Minho’s region and every year it attracts thousands of visitors.
Along the festivity, visitors have the opportunity to see to a spectacular open air market, many fireworks, street folklore, street animation, music shows and ethnographic parades. The 3rd of May is the municipal holiday and it is the main day of this festival with the majestic procession of the Invention of the Holy Cross during the afternoon.
